Dr Reena Shah (BSc (Hons), MSc, DClin Psych, CPsychol), is a Chartered Senior Clinical Psychologist who works for the Central and North West London Trust. As a specialist in Dermatology, she works closely alongside the specialist tertiary psychodermatology clinic and the Dermatology department at the Royal London Hospital (Barts Health NHS Trust).
Dr Shah is on the advisory board for the BAD psychodermatology group, is a member of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Skin, she is on the executive committee for Psychodermatology UK and in a few BAD Clinical Guideline Developmental groups for various skin disorders.
Dr Shah is an honorary lecturer at the University of Hertfordshire on the MSc Dermatology programme and she teaches on the postgraduate Diploma for Clinical Dermatology and the annual SpR training on Psychodermatology.
Dr Shah’s passion for psychodermatology leads to working closely with various skin condition charities and conducting innovative research within this field. She has had papers in both psychodermatology and psychology published internationally and in peer-reviewed journals.
Dr Shah offers psychological therapy and assessment to treat patients with skin disorders and other mental health issues and she aims to improve her patients’ quality of life. She believes that understanding the skin-mind link is a key factor for successful outcomes in treatment for her patients.
She works with people of all ages, families and couples and has facilitated group work. Her work is informed by numerous therapeutic models, such as Solution-focused, Behavioural, Cognitive-Behavioural and Systemic Family Therapy. Dr Shah tailors her therapy in accordance to her patients’ needs.
